Visitors staying at the boarding house share lodgings with the proprietors of the masia, at the farther end of the house.
La Esperanza has been a family estate for years. Life centres around the masia: the owners work on the irrigated lands that spread all around the central building, tending to their maize and alfalfa crops.
In Castellserà, the municipality where the masia is located, Bronze-Age vestiges give way to the remains of an ancient Iberian settlement, around which an extinct Roman village has left, among other things, a peculiar gravestone.
